Hey, guess what just showed up on my iPod? This week's This Week in Law, which focuses almost exclusively on domain name law. I haven't listened to it yet, but then again, I don't really need to. I was on the show.

Here's a new podcast. I didn't quit podcasting! Of course, I didn't. I just didn't have anything to say until now.

Today is the day when the ICANN Board of Directors does shuttle diplomacy, attending all of the constituency meetings and meeting with the various advisory committees. The ALAC meeting was recorded and is attached here as a podcast/mp3 file (50 minutes / 3.2 megabytes).

I can't find an archive of today's U.S. Senate Commerce Committee hearing on ICANN, so I'll share my own copy here (1 Hour, 17 Minutes / 13.3 megabytes). When I turned the computer on this morning, I realized I didn't have Real Player installed, so it took me a few minutes to get the recorder going. This recording starts 8 minutes after the announced start time. Otherwise, I don't think I missed anything. You can get the prepared, written statements of the witnesses here by clicking on the person's name.

At the GNSO meetings in Amsterdam this week, we used a professional service for remote telephone access and the creation of MP3 recordings of the meetings. After we experienced some troubles in the first session, the GNSO asked me to make back-up recordings in case something went wrong. The back-ups are below.


I wasn't recording the first session, but everything after the first break on the first day ought to be here. The recordings are a bit squeaky, but I think you can hear most everything that was spoken. The written materials for the meeting are here.

If you haven't been to an ICANN meeting in person in the last year or so, you've missed the place where the real action occurs: the Board-Constituency meetings. Here's a video snippet from tonight's welcoming ceremony by the host country. It's big....about 20 megabytes....and only a minute in length. It's the video capture from my digital still camera. Worth watching though.

On her weblog, ICANN Board member Susan Crawford observes: "Although it was hard to see over all the heads of the people in front of me, I believe that Vint Cerf participated this evening in some kind of warrior ritual involving (not by him) shouting, stamping, and waving spears.  Gentlemanly as always, he was very game."

From what I understand, video capture of public events like this is illegal in Bulgaria.
