Here's a new Board-type I'd like to see: the young Internet user. The Board needs someone under the age of 25. Seriously. These are the kids people who have grown up on the 'net, and they use it differently than the old folks we do. They are not represented on the ICANN Board, yet they represent the majority of sophisticated Internet users. So don't be shy about putting your name in just because you have a full head of hair and can still read 8-point type. ICANN needs you.

Ok, so maybe I am not the ICANN BoD type. I'm 39, have been involved in the net since I was 18, and monitors made me bald. (Do you do class action on gamma rays vs. IBM?)
In any event, I wanted to point you at the recent appointment of the ICANN ASO AC, er, the NRO Number Council, er, ICANN ASO AC Board of Directors Appointment to replace Mohahmmed Diop. His name is Dave Wodelet: http://www.aso.icann.org/ IMHO, as an ICANN newbie, we had a fair process. Open and transparent is a different question as I can't define that yet in my experience here, but since I was the author of a significant amount of the unofficial documents we used in the process, I am willing to offer them to anyone who asks (sans names, since we did not tell respondents we would use them completed, publicly - but please do abuse me in the open and transparent part for our appointment next year). Regardless, I hope you will be pleased with the appointment of Dave Wodelet, +25, of Shaw Cable, Canada. He was the only recruited candidate that I am aware of. Trackbacks
