If there's one thing that ICANN can do to cut down on the length of its
meetings, it's this: dispense with the "reading of reports."
You can
time-shift one-way communication by providing people a URL (or MP3
audio) for the presentation. We can receive the information on our own
time. I suspect many of these written statements were prepared before
the meetings began and easily could have been posted ahead of time.
It's disappointing to fly around the world only to spend hours upon
hours in meetings where people read their prepared, written reports. Use the time together at the meetings for two-way communication. We always seem to run out of time at the so-called "Public Forum" for input from the public.
