It's not easy to find the comment page or
submission address from a quick review of the ICANN web site. Give it a try. Start here,
at the ICANN home page, and see how long it takes you to find the link
to the submission address. Nevertheless, people have found it and seem
to be interested enough in the subject to comment, sometimes in very
colorful terms. Ross Rader's op-ed piece in yesterday's CNet,
which
linked to the comment board, really got things going. Here's another
thing you can do. Copy the jpg above or inline link the image
(src="http://blog.lextext.com/commentnow.jpg") and put a link to the
comment address on your own site. I'll have this banner in the top left
of my web page until the comment period closes.

Have you noticed the number of cookie-cutter comments from Network Solutions employees?
No comment other than to point it out. Re: Re: Comment on the ICANN-Verisign Settlement

I've also noted that almost all, if not 100%, of the comments in favor of the deal come from companies, consultants or trade groups that receive money or services from Verisign.

Classic VeriSign tactic. Overload the system with the same message sent by 50 different people and so crowd out the other arguments.
It did exactly the same with the .net process - check out the number of letters from companies written on the comments page and sent in letters to ICANN that were *exactly* the same. It's all here: http://www.icann.org/tlds/dotnet-reassignment/dotnet-correspondence.htm Denic caught onto this and started doing the same. Kieren Trackbacks
