Had ICANN been honest and approved .Web, I would wager we would have done three times what .INFO has done (at a minimum) and beat them soundly on usage ratios. Just to start.

It's easy to claim victory when you're aided by restricted competition.

I think .WEB would have been successful too (and .III would have been as well). Still, I think .INFO has been a nice 'proof of concept' that a new generic string can catch on, distinguish itself from .COM, and build a market and consumer identification.
