Never Wrestle With A Pig
Because you'll both get dirty and only the pig will enjoy it. That's the way I heard the anecdote that Ross relates on his weblog with regard to RSS. No question that the great RSS debate, like the ICANN debates, has its share of pigs. Knowing who are the pigs is half the battle, and that's not always clear when you enter a new community, especially an online community. Still, Blogware has made a decision to support RSS 0.91. Why that spec? Why not RSS 2.0?

"Why not RSS 2.0?"
No decision was actually made at any point. We just kind of supported 0.91 by default knowing full well that customers would want something else, or not, but a beta-test and launch would eventually iron all that out in the same wonderful way that healthy markets usually tend to themselves.
That being said, support for 2.0 is on the way and possibly 1.0 at some point, and of course, Atom when it is closer to primetime.
My design requirement is to support these all side-by-side until supporting it like this breaks something or becomes impractical.
