Remember the December 7th "go live" date for .pro registrations? That was the "real" live date announced after the launch was delayed from April to August to September. You guessed it: delayed again. According to .pro-accredited registrar EnCirca: "12/10 Update:The launch of both third-level and second-level .Pro domains will occur at the same time. Go-live is anticipated in February." Yeah, right.
DomainPeople.com: ".PRO is unlike any other domain name extension to date." Supply your own punchline....

Great choice there, ICANN.
.Web has been up and running since 1996. How about putting it in the root before its 10-year anniversary? Re: .Pro-bably Never

This time. the blame appears to be with ICANN. They were unable to revise the .Pro contract to include the expanded second level.

I don't buy it. If that were the case, the .Pro people would be making a stink about it, especially in light of the approval by the board for it, as well as the .Name change.
No, I doubt that's the reason. Selling the Registry

From what I've heard, Register.com is looking to unload the .pro registry and is seeking a buyer. I'm sure they're not too troubled by any ICANN delays. The registry probably has more value as a promise than it does after a (likely) disappointing launch.
