This is a picture from the top of the nature trail at nearby Stowe Canyon, where my son celebrated his 6th birthday a few weeks back. That "X" on the top of the hill? It's a marker for satellites that take pictures of the ground. By lining up the "X" they've placed at various places, they can compare photographs over time.
